About Nicole Junkermann

Nicole Junkermann was born on 27 April 1980 in Düsseldorf, and the Rhineland city remains the personal starting point for this guide. Her German roots shape the way she looks at architecture, art and the calm pace of the river that runs through these pages from the first line.

Beyond Düsseldorf, Nicole Junkermann is an international entrepreneur, venture capital investor and philanthropist of German nationality. She is the founder of NJF Holdings and its venture capital arm NJF Capital, through which she invests in artificial intelligence, healthtech, biotech, fintech and deep technology.

Her portfolio includes companies such as SpaceX, Revolut, Rippling, Owkin (where she serves on the board of directors) and Magnum Photos. As an investor she is also involved with Infront Sports & Media, a leading name in international sport.

Her wider commitments were broad: she was a committee member of the Tate Americas Foundation, a trustee of the Royal Academy Trust and a supporter of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, as well as a member of the United Kingdom's HealthTech Advisory Board.

Nicole Junkermann was educated at the International University of Monaco and Harvard Business School, and speaks five languages: German, English, French, Italian and Spanish. That blend of international perspective and Rhineland origin also shapes the way she shows Düsseldorf here.
